Woman Killed In Crash After Failing To Stop And Rear Ending 18-Wheeler Truck Outside San Antonio, Texas.

A wrongful death claim can arise in a variety of circumstances.  Claims can arise any time a person is killed as the result of another’s negligence.  One common example that is likely to bring about a wrongful death suit is after a fatal car accident caused by the negligence of one driver. Although no amount of money can fully compensate for the loss of a loved one, wrongful death claims attempt to assist the family and provide some relief in the form of monetary damages. The expert wrongful death attorneys at the Law Offices of Gilbert R. Hoy, Jr. and Affiliates have decades of experience and can help guide you through this complicated litigation process.

A woman died recently as a result of crashing into the back of an 18-wheeler truck on the Interstate 35 South Access Road on the northeast side of the interstate. Police responded to the crash early in the afternoon around 1:30 p.m. just past the Rittiman Road exit ramp, where they found the woman’s crumpled SUV pinned underneath the 18-wheeler. Sgt. Brian Bielefeld of the San Antonio Police Department said the 18-wheeler had to stop for traffic ahead, but for some reason the woman wasn’t able to slow down in time to avoid crashing into it.  “The 18-wheeler truck couldn’t do anything about it,” he said.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was treated at the scene of the crash, causing police to close down the exit ramp and slow down traffic on the highway. She was later pronounced dead, which prompted an investigation. Sgt. Bielefeld said the medical examiner had to inspect the victim’s body at the scene to determine whether she died because of the crash or for some other reason.
